Midway between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe, this is a superb base for exploring the sandy beaches and numerous attractions of North Devon. It has amazing views over the Bristol Channel and the Atlantic Ocean, not to mention the Devonshire countryside with its wealth of walking and cycle routes.
Mullacott has a coffee shop, a shop and a launderette and there are several beautiful beaches nearby as well as lots of places to go fishing. The Tarka Trail follows the River Torridge to the estuary at Instow and the flat route is extremely safe for children making it a great way for them to explore the surroundings.
There is surfing at Croyde Bay's Blue Flag beach, where the British Surfing Championships have been held three times. There is adventure waterskiing and wakeboarding at Barnstaple and a wonderful golf course in Minehead. Ragamuffins Bistro in Braunton is renowned for its fresh, locally caught fish and seafood, as well as its great wine list.
