This beautiful countryside park is bordered by ancient woodland, not far from Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot Hills. The coastline has miles of uncrowded sandy beaches, such as Embleton Bay and Tynemouth - and the north east has its fair share of history and heritage, boasting more castles than anywhere else in the country.
Bockenfield is a haven for wildlife, flora and fauna and has a fresh running stream running right through the park. Alnwick Castle and Gardens (Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter films) is within easy travelling distance and the PGA golf course at Burgham Park is just 500 metres away. Newcastle and Gateshead both have great shopping and a buzzing nightlife.
The ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle in Alnwick dominates a stretch of the Northumberland coastline and Lindisfarne Castle in Berwick-upon-Tweed has some amazing panoramic views. There are a number of family fun parks such as Castle Mania in Morpeth, with its a massive indoor play centre, Adventurelands at Newcastle and Mister Twister Wacky World in Gateshead.
