lancashireAccording to the Visit Lancashire official guide you can expect a certain wow factor when you book a short break in Lancashire.  And we certainly agree!  Lancashire provides the ideal setting to combine relaxation with a good helping of sight seeing and of course eating and drinking.

Lancashire's restaurants offer a diverse range of cuisines to suit any occasion or budget. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or just looking to enjoy a family meal out there are plenty of tasty options.

Fresco Fresco

A great choice for families this traditional Italian bistro serves up a delicious menu of fresh ingredients cooked in the familiar Mediterranean style. Children are made very welcome and you can also request their favourites to be cooked if not on the menu. The atmosphere really makes you feel like you're on holiday in Italy and you can be assured of excellent quality food as all the vegetables are grown Uncle Paul's market garden which is just down the road!

Farmers Glory

A good choice for British, seasonal food and the setting is rather unique offering alfresco dining during the summer months. Aimed at the discerning diner the restaurant manages to seamlessly blend traditional with contemporary and also offers stunning views over the local moorlands. House specials include Deep Fried Monkfish Tails, Farmers Glory sausage of the week (e.g. Damson & Pork, Duck or Black pudding) and there are also daily specials such as Venison pie under a lid of thyme pastry.

La Locanda

A traditional Italian restaurant in the heart of Gisburn. The restaurant has a warm, rustic feel and a friendly atmosphere. Popular with families and couples the menu is comprehensive and exciting. Matured, Ribble Valley fillet steak served with mushrooms sauce and Chicken breast from Kendal filled with mozzarella cheese, basil and rolled with Speck both feature on the menu along with many traditional pasta dishes. Daily specials and happy hours make it excellent value too.

The Olive Press

Looking out on to beautiful Parkland the restaurant has a wonderful, friendly ambiance and the food is rustic and very tasty. Fresh local ingredients are used to create traditional Italian favourites and well as some inventive new dishes. The restaurant is very family friendly and children have a special "little olives" menu to choose from.


Tandoori restaurant serving up all the traditional dishes in a relaxed environment, with regular happy hours and specials this restaurant is certainly good value for money and a great choice for those who enjoy Indian cuisine.

La Mezzaluna

An elegant restaurant offering Mediterranean and Italian style food. The restaurant has an excellent reputation and is a good choice for a special occasion. Superb food is why most visitors return but the style of the restaurant and impeccable service add to the experience as do the stunning sea views. The A La Carte menu will not break the bank and includes dishes such as ham hock terrine and chicken stuffed with Chorizo.

Northcote Hotel and Restaurant

The place if you are looking to treat yourself or someone else to a Michelin starred experience. Head chef Nigel Haworth has created a stunning and exciting menu and the elegant restaurant is the perfect place for a special occasion. The menu is seasonal and may include dishes such as Loin of Lakeland Farmers Veal and Whitby Cod with Langoustine Mash.

Nutter's restaurant 

One of our favourites in the region. Located within a lavish 18th century manor house it offers stunning food and spectacular views across Ashworth moors. Owner and head chef Andrew Nutters cuisine is imaginative and seasonal with a unique touch. The Award Winning Crispy Black Pudding Wontons are one dish not to be missed and the black and white minstrel cheesecake is the ultimate indulgent dessert.

Bistro Fudge

A friendly and relaxed Bistro with an eclectic menu which marries traditional British dishes with more exotic options. The restaurant is ideal for family dining or catching up with friends and is a good choice for lunch, afternoon tea or an evening meal.

Hodgson's Award-Winning Chippy

If you are looking for good quality fast food then this is the place. The establishment is locally famous and well known to serve the best traditional fish and chips in the area. Also available are a selection of pies and puddings as well as kids meals.

Pub grub in Lancashire is some of the best in the country, the pubs here use top quality ingredients including Bowland beef, Lancashire cheeses and beautiful Morcombe Bay seafood. Pubs are perfect for relaxed family dining and usually represent good value for money. 

The Holden Arms (Rossendale)

Traditional in style and atmosphere this pub is perfect for families, couples and groups looking for good quality, good value food. Food is served 7 days a week until 9pm and you can choose to eat in the bar area or in the dining room. The food is unpretentious and tasty using local produce where possible. Specialities include Cod Mornay and Duck with Peking sauce. Sunday lunches are not to be missed!

The Red Pump Inn (Bashall Eaves)

Offering a lovely rustic menu this traditional pub restaurant uses local ingredients and keeps the menu fresh and seasonal. The environment is relaxed and friendly and is popular with families. The children's menu is tasty and fresh and all meals are cooked to order. House specials include slow-roasted local belly pork and extra matured shin o'beef.

The Inn at Whitewell

One of 17 so called Great Inns of Britain this traditional pub is perfect for family dining and uses fresh local produce to create an exciting menu. The bar food is simple and delicious and includes fish pie and char grilled beef. The more formal restaurant has an A la carte menu with exciting specialities including roast loin of local lamb.
